That's interesting, did you have a lot - a lot of road miles on them? I've found the SE4 tread to be surprisingly resilient and I've worn out the casings before the tread on the ones I've had.
Full suspension bike? I can't see myself going back from at least 2.6" rubber on the rear wheel on my hardtail. 2.8"+ for the win.
