The sad truth is that it is very expensive and time consuming to engineer a truly lightweight frame, be it carbon or aluminum. Which does not go well with two - year product cycles which often lead to entirely new frame designs or suspension layouts. I have also noticed that a lot of people buy carbon parts for the sake of "its carbon!", even if the actual weight savings are minimal.
