Yes, Ardent and Ardent Race are separate tread patterns. The Ardent Race skews much more towards the XC end of the spectrum. It's the 2.35 size I like on the hard tail - nice volume to make riding on rocky, rooty trails a bit more comfortable, it rolls fast af, and brakes pretty decent all things considered. It's my summer set up here in the Southeast US. After riding my Hightower LT with big ol' knobbies exclusively this year, it's taken some readjusting to the hard tail with less aggressive tires! May end up slapping some DHR IIs on the Honzo as well.
