Hmmm. I am 63 and been riding bikes of some type since high school. I also paddle outrigger and a surfski, lift a few weights and drink beer. Never been hard core mountain bike dude but have some skills and enjoyed the bike park. My wife and I ride XC 29'ers and love it. I can do SFU, we did the KVR 85k one day and all we need. However at some point we will get an e mountain bike. Why? So we can extend our riding days and hours per day but will keep current bikes. Getting older is not a choice, keeping riding somehow is, and you may think different at 60+. Downside is yes there will be complete idiots ripping up trails and causing a huge nuisance, no riding etiquette, bluetooth speakers cranking out stupid tunes and generally a pain in the ass. However that will get reconciled as either they can ride a trail or not, and when the crashes weed out the idiots the trails should be fine, you might even see me. Impossible to teach all ebiker's etiquette, will be a headache for awhile but let the trails and gravity sort out the crowd. Mountain biking is not SUP where almost anyone can do it, the mountain will sort out the newbies from the ones who will be long term riders.
