I agree, steel frame, rigid bike, flat pedals so you can hop on with whatever shoes you take off the dead bodies you come across. No dropper, and a 1x drivetrain...maybe XT 10speed...that shit just keeps going. 29er with 32 spoke 3 cross, straight gauge spokes and CK hubs....some big not so knobby tires built up tubeless...but have spare tubes. And my god...use schrader valves!
You can have fun on this bike...we did back in the 80's...haha...
