Thanks for your post Brad, its very well considered. I don't know of any
aluminum rim manufacturer's specifically recommending against ProCore and I
haven't heard of any ProCore related failures whereas, as you note, there have
been a notable number of documented issues with carbon.
It's merely a hypothesis, but I think the thickness and compress-ability of
Gorilla tape is the issue as under the air channels would be forced downwards
into the tape. It definitely make it notably harder to air up the outer
chamber and prevented the release of air from the outer chamber without first
significantly decreasing the inner chamber pressure.
