I totally would. I'm currently riding an aluminum Schwinn Protocol 2.7 (27.5 "er). I'm also upgrading the living shit out of her. I'm putting a DNM USD-8 fork on it, as a replacement for the current suntour xcm. I gotta say, after riding Rock Island @ Table Rock (single black) with this Schwinn, and clearing several small but decent doubles (jump ramps) and several rock gardens, this is the best budget bike for any rider, if only because of it's adaptability. The only thing that needs to be custom made is the pivot linkage, and only to be able to swap the stock spacetaker with a longer air shock (or coil, if you're into that).
I'm the kind of guy to show up on that frankenstein of a bike and keep up with the guys on the expensive big name carbon bikes with big name components. All while spending more on gear than the bike itself.
