I would not shell out $1500-$2000 for either of these. They are both probably fantastic but we are talking about a 2k wheelset. If I am spending that much on a wheelset (which I have) I want something that is going to be supported for years to come. At the end of the day, as long as the rim stays straight and doesn't crack I doubt many people would notice huge differences in rim characteristics. Hub and spokes is another matter. Both of these wheelsets use proprietary hubs which means when it comes to getting parts in the future you have to rely on the technology staying the same or the company continuing to support their products. Mavic may do this but I doubt E13 will have hub parts for you in 5 years/10 years. I have a set of Chris King hubs I bought 10 years ago which are: 1) still on original bearings and parts, 2) still running perfectly and 3) you can still buy parts for them. And they look baller. My next carbon wheelset may use either one of these rims but will be laced to a tried and true hub that I can run for years to come. I know J bend spokes are old fashioned but I suspect that is what really makes the difference in the ride characteristics of these two wheels and it seems the author liked the J bend wheel over the direct pull anyways.
