I agree with you, and I'm not retracting my opinion on the matter. However, I
think I'm on the wrong side of things on 2 counts. 1. Stating it publicly WRT
one person and 2. trying to gather a mob on the Internet to spotlight that one
person. I also don't think what I did is a really big deal, but that doesn't
mean I shouldn't say sorry. Nicholi's something like 19 and I've got 20 years
of life experience on him. He should be free to make his own way in the world
without this sort of scrutiny and pressure. I hate conformity and that's what
I was ultimately trying to apply to him, at a pretty sensitive age. When I was
his age I was picking my ass and bumping into things. An apology was in order
in my view.
Putting that all behind me though, those are some interesting points you bring
up. I was pretty deeply involved in baseball as a kid in Australia and had no
idea about the rookie thing. Some cocky fuckers I played with might have
gotten themselves into trouble when they played in the majors. And hockey,
well, with my outsider's perspective I find the whole Canadian culture around
that fascinating. I'm pretty sure statistics would say there's no way the
Canadian drought of Stanley Cups is explained by random chance. It's crazy how
much pressure gets put on those guys. That's a more fitting discussion for the
previous week's Uncle Daveā¦
