I cannot believe that lock on grips are the norm. You take away 1/2 the shock absorbing material and make it hard plastic and then put a clamp at the end where your hand goes (agree with Agleck7 on that one). ESI silicone grips are the bomb. They offer way more shock absorption for your hands and prevent fatigue but at the same time are slimmer and give you a better feel on the bar. Racer's edge ESI silicone grips should be tried for anyone who hasn't IMO!!!! They are a pain to put on but do last a good long time - unless you crash on them all the time and they may get ripped. I put hope bar end plugs in the end and it keeps them well protected.
