I thought I could get away with the Five Ten Aescent for touring, as the grip
was excellent and they are great casual shoes, but the sole didn't have enough
stiffness even for that application. I went to the Freerider Contact and they
were (still are) really good. The drying thing is even more key when you're
traveling! We generally wore our Chacos when it was raining, saving the Five
Tens for night/morning.
