#!markdown I thought I could get away with the Five Ten Aescent for touring, as the grip was excellent and they are great casual shoes, but the sole didn't have enough stiffness even for that application. I went to the Freerider Contact and they were (still are) really good. The drying thing is even more key when you're traveling! We generally wore our Chacos when it was raining, saving the Five Tens for night/morning.
