I created an account just to say how awesome this build and your ideas are. Good stuff! I'm going to attempt to build my next frame, and will certainly use this for some inspiration. Screw carbon and aluminum, a steel fully is appealing on so many levels.
I also wanted to say kudos for designing around a small chainring. I agree 100%, and if you're going to stay 1x, I'd much rather give up some top end speed for more low end range to climb up whatever's in front of me. I'm also admittedly in the "dinner plate-sized cassettes look ridiculous" camp...
