I found it strange that there was no sign that he got his brakes or tried to evade the bear. It makes me think the bear was crossing the trail just as he was coming along because even with only one second I'd be doing my best not to t bone a 350 lb bear. Or the animal was invisible in the partially shaded section of trail. Tragic regardless.
