Rest in peace, Brad! This must have been a freak accident. That particular bike with its 500mm wide flat bars doesn't really look like a trail shredding machine so I doubt he was hanging it all out on narrow singletrack at that speed. More likely limited visibility and plain old bad timing on an easy section of trail. I do slow down and ring my handlebar bell when I ride in areas with thick brush and low visibility... will be riding slower and ringing it more often after reading this.
