As with other brands there are awesome aftermarket rings available for the e13
cranks. AbsoluteBlack and Wolf Tooth (Camo) both have options for example.
If I was king of the bike world everyone would use SRAM's three-bolt direct
mount system; however, that will never happen. In light of that e13's system
is not inherently better/worse than any of the similar lock-ring DM setups.
