I've got a Bell Super 2R and love it, although I never bother to take the chin
bar off anymore. For me the slight benefit of removing the chin bar is
outweighed by the hassle. The helmet is cool enough with or without. In short
I think the venting provides the biggest benefit (my Specialized downhill lid
is not too heavy but is so hot without vents I'd never wear it anywhere but
the park).
My riding buddy has a Met Parachute and I would have bought one except it
doesn't fit me as well as the Bell. If you are riding in Arizona it might be
worth it to remove the chin bar, but in temperatures less then about 30c/80f I
don't think a fit rider will need to remove the bar.
