I know this is 2 years old but you are 100% wrong in that statement. All
helmets whether they be $30 commuter lids, or $400 TLD buckets will expire
after about 5 years. The foam that they are constructed from slowly loses its
ability to absorb an impact and will shatter later in its life. I personally
try to get a new helmet every 3 or so years as the effects of a "dead" helmet
are devastating. (It's also super cheap to buy a new one when you consider
what service it's providing for you…)
