You "thinks" wrong. I was around during the Circus and GMG days. There was a
short period where I lived on The Island, but for the most part I've been
riding the shore for 20 years. Severed Dick has never been a smoothed and
buffed beginner's trail. So I see no reason to smooth it out now. I accept
that you may feel differently, but ask that you not ruin the more challenging
trails for those of us that like them.
