I used to prefer a buckle, too, but it didn't take long to appreciate the
comfort and micro-adjustability of the D-rings, nor did it take long to get
proficient at doing it up quickly. And while it's unlikely a properly fastened
buckle will come undone, a properly fastened D-ring will never come undone in
a crash.
