i'm not going to throw my old rims under the bus: i built them knowing the
combo of width and weight was likely too good to be true for the kind of
riding i intended - and it was. a number of companies are building these kinds
of rims, with some of them providing the caveat that they're FRO (for race
only), and from what i'm hearing the results are predictable
wtb's frequency i25 is an example of a rim that backs up its width with enough
girth to stand up to the kind of abuse its going to see under hard riding - if
that sounds like its what you are looking for, i'd encourage you to check it
out.
