#!markdown first time buyers as mentioned above research and price range are key as welll as riding style… the one and only thing not mentioned in the article is how to protect your bike from a lowlife thief thats wanting to go for a spin on your new bike. take from me i have had 3 stolen in the past 14 yrs… when you walk out of the corner store that you pit stopped at to grab water and come out to find your bike gone its a serious blow. its like loosing a family member! and even though you dont hate you will become jaded and you will forever look for your bike under someone else that feeling never goes away period. you call the police and they just cant seem to understand how a mtn bike can cost 8900 dollars and trust me they will not specifically go out and look for yours. no matter the value. so what im saying is go buy the most bad !@# lock with insurance and when your not on your bike lock it when its in your garage lock it and lock the bike to something else in there that cant be carried away or cut with bolt cutters. i am a millwright and tools have come along way 1/2 " thick chain can be cut with bolt cutters wire rope is no different!!!!! i buy krytonite locks and chain because the links of chain are made of square bar and hardened steel. they have a replacement key program and come with insurance as long as you have a receipt for locked up item and you have registered the lock and your personal info to them using snail mail.
