I'm a mountain biker living in Switzerland. I managed to live here six years
before getting my first road bike in September. My 22 km round trip commute
near Zurich has now turned into a 50 km round trip road ride, which means I'm
riding double the distance and doing more climbing during weekdays than I ever
did on my commuter! Come the weekends, this means longer, faster and more
enjoyable mountain bike rides, or 80-100 km road rides that feel like a
breeze! It's great to have options, and while I'll always consider myself a
mountain biker first, it is pretty sweet to be able to hit the pavement right
from your garage and start your road ride and not endure a 30 minute paved
slog on knobbies just to get to some worthy dirt!
