#!markdown Loam is a relatively equal mixture of sand, silt, and clay (see the "soil triangle"), is great for gardening or building IMBA-like bench-cut trails, and is not at all what mountain bikers call loam. I would refer to yourself as the "duff ranger" to be at all correct. I find it rather hilarious when mountain bikers talk about how much they love "loam", when in fact if your fall line trail were loamy, it would be heinously greasy/dusty/loose.
