Weekend Warmup #244
ROSSIGNOL BIKE | HERETIC - A NEW DAWN by Nils HEINIGER
The Rossignol brand was born in 1907 when Abel Rossignol made his first pair of wooden skis. Having grown into one of the largest ski manufacturers in the world, Rossignol forayed into the bike world in 2017 after acquiring Felt Bicycles. Although their full suspension offerings the last few years have left something to be desired, Deniz released his first impressions on the new heretic this week and was impressed by their updates. Enjoy Rossi sponsored rider, Nils Heiniger shredding the new Heretic where the brand once began, the French Alps.
Makken - Lokal Pokal: Mini Documentary
Mads Makken grew up Vang, a small farming town in central Norway. Living in a farming town meant early mornings and lots of labour work to keep the property maintained and the animals happy. It also meant that he had the grounds and machines to facilitate his bike, moto, and snowmobile dreams. Mads was one of the first YT sponsored riders in the late 2000s, a three time Red Bull Rampage participate, and a co-founder of the Fest Series. In this video, he returns to Vang to show his kids what his youth was all about.
FRAMEWORKS | Wind Tunnel Testing
Neko Mulally and Asa Vermette, along with the rest of the Frameworks team head to the wind tunnel to test the effects of different body positions, clothing, and bike modifications. Asa has been on a tear this past season, winning the Junior Men's Downhill World Championships in August and placing second at Red Bull Hardline in February. To date downhill mountain biking has been one of the only time trial based sports that does not place an emphasis on aerodynamics, but as every second counts we have seen riders wearing tighter kits the past few seasons. The UCI may have to update their rulebook to allow speed suits.
A Taste of Freedom - Ronnie Romance aka UltraRomance
Take a trip with Ronnie UltraRomance through his hometown in Lyme Connecticut as he reflects on the meaning of the bicycle in his life. Ron isn't chasing personal bests, counting grams, or allowing himself to be absorbed into the marketing machine of supply-side capitalism constantly touting the latest and greatest. The bicycle, what can be made into a very simple and robust machine, is the closest Ron will ever get to the feeling of flying, and I'm okay with that too. If you have some time off this weekend, leave your phone at home, and go for a bike ride. Your soul will thank you later.
CHAPTER 2 / Johannes Wibmer
It's starting to become pretty apparent that talent on two wheels runs in the Wibmer family. Johannes grew up alongside his cousins Gabriel and Fabio, both who've made a name for themselves in the street trials and freeride scene. After settling into motocross racing, the 20 year Austrian rider has recently made the called to switch to free ride full time. Expect plenty more videos from Johannes as he continues to push the limits of the sport. Jumping off a building to flat on a 250 pound dirt bike is a pretty damn good place to start.
