You may have heard the term 'anti-squat' tossed around in forums, but could you explain it? Thankfully Andrextr can - and he does so with his usual clarity.

I like that he talks about the effect of the rider moving up and down in addition to the just rotation around the CofG. This frequently gets left out of the discussion, but is a giant reason why there is no perfect anti-squat number, and no perfect anti-squat design. His real world demonstrations are a bit confusing, but I love his accent so much it more than makes up for it.

On mountain bikes you will always have some pedal Bob due to pedalling biomechanics, however, and similarly to what happens on motorbikes, the 100% seem to be a consensual number. At least will eliminate the squats caused by the horizontal acceleration. On MTB it's easy to feel the difference between a 30% or a 100% AS bike.

For sure. It's more a comment on bike companies claiming to have the perfect solution for all possibilities.
