Snowshoe World Cup DH Results
It was a heavy-duty weekend of racing at Snowshoe Resort in West Virginia, with the final two rounds of the UCI DH World Cup being held back-to-back. In the Elite Men's division on Saturday, the top two spots of the podium would be separated by just four tenths of a second, and be decided on the very last run of the day. Loic Bruni would put down a perfect run, claiming 1st place from Aussie Troy Brosnan. Spaniard Alonso Suarez would finish 3rd, just over half a second off the pace. Bruni had to finish 5th or better in order to claim the overall victory, and he did so in stunning fashion. The fastest Canadian on the day would be Mark Wallace in 12th, cementing him in 12th place overall on the year as well.
For the Elite Women it would be another nail biter, with Valentina Holl putting down a run to beat. Overall series leader Myriam Nicole looked on pace to snatch the victory away, but a costly error left her in 7th place. That error also meant that Holl would claim 1st place overall in the World Cup, capping off an incredible season.
The Junior Men's division was the closest racing of the day, with Jordan Williams taking top spot on the podium. Canuck up-and-comer Jackson Goldstone would lose out on the win, finishing only 0.126 seconds behind Williams. Irishman Oisin O Callaghan would round out the top 3 in 3rd, finishing nearly 3 seconds off the pace. Despite the win on the day, it wasn't enough for Williams to overcome the points total of Goldstone, who goes on to claim the overall victory for the 2021 season.
We've got the full results from the day below, as well as the overall series results. The 2022 UCI DH World Cup (hopefully) kicks off in Lourdes, France on March 26th and 27th.
