Sam Hill COVID

Sam Hill Tests Positive for COVID-19 and Will Miss Opening Round of the Enduro World Series

A big spot of bad luck for fast guy Sam Hill as he popped positive on a COVID-19 test just prior to the opening round of the Enduro World Series set to take place in Scotland. Following the advice of medical staff, he's opted not to travel, and will instead redouble his efforts once recovered to focus on the remaining EWS races.

From the Nukeproof Factory Racing Team:

" We are sad to announce Nukeproof-SRAM Factory Racing athlete, Sam Hill will miss the first round of the EWS Unfortunately, Sam tested positive for Covid-19 last week and the decision made with medical advice to not travel.

We are gutted for Sam and wish him and his family a huge get well soon and look forward to him joining the team fit and healthy for round 2 of the series.

After a huge off season of rehab from shoulder surgery and preparing for the season, Sam is truly sorry and gutted to miss the round. Whilst it’s no fault of his, he wanted to pass on his apologise to his fans and is looking forward to returning soon.

Nigel would personally like to thank all the teams amazing team sponsors for their support. The rest of the team are 100% ready and stoked to be back in the Tweed Valley, ready for next week’s event."

Canyon Launches New Spectral:ON E-MTB

Canyon has announced their latest E-MTB model: the all-new Spectral:ON. Designed to be playful, with a nimble ride quality, the goal is for riders to have their cake and eat it too.

We faced a dilemma when we began developing the new Spectral:ON. We wanted to maintain the bike’s trademark playful on-trail personality, but we also wanted to give riders the power and range to ride further than ever before. And there’s the rub– adding range generally means adding more battery cells (and therefore weight) to the mix. So how do you achieve the best of both worlds? You redesign the entire bike. Starting from scratch, we cleaved massive weight from the Spectral:ON chassis. The new bikes are now fully carbon –gaining a carbon rear triangle for the first time. Allnew carbon layup schedules and even more efficient frame architecture enabled us to gain strength while shearing grams. As befits a bike that’s designed to be rallied hard on the roughest trails, both the CF and CFR frames now meet even higher and more rigorous “Category 4E” strength and impact resistance testing standards.

Range anxiety –the fear that you’ll suddenly run out of power– sucks. So, we eliminated it. We’ve equipped the new Spectral:ON with one of the biggest (and smartest) power plants in the world. The Spectral:ON is now available with both 720 and 900Wh batteries that boost your mileage and stoke factor by 15 to 42%* respectively. Or to put it in more practical terms – ride long, ride hard – the Spectral:ON gives you the power to absolutely crush the biggest rides with total confidence.

The Spectral:ON is powered by Shimano’s EP8 motor. At 2.6 kg, the magnesium-clad Shimano motor is one of the lightest full-power mo - tors on the market. It’s also one of the most powerful, with 85Nm of peak torque that effectively quadruples your pedaling power and makes punching up steep climbs that much easier.

The Spectral:ON is loaded with smart details that deliver out on the trail. Our fiber-reinforced skid plate, for instance, simultaneously shields the motor from rocks and serves as a bash guard for your chainring. Our Canyon:ON bar and stem reduce cockpit clutter by allowing you to route wiring through the bar and stem. What’s more, our novel headset design (born from a partnership between Canyon and Acros) enables us to route the cables through the headset. This, in turn, allows for tighter cable routing with no loss in shifting performance or binding sensation in the steering. Finally, our Quixle thru-axle design boosts rear end stiffness while tucking neatly into the axle – providing easy, toolfree wheel removal in a similarly streamlined package.

Nukeproof Scout

Introducing the All-New Nukeproof Scout

Never underestimate a Hardtail. The simplicity of frames minus the rear bounce allows for an amount of efficiency, speed, and a hell of a lot of fun. Perfect for testing and developing skills and with 19.3% extra performance for hooning around on with your mates.

The Nukeproof Scout has developed a die-hard fan base in recent years and after almost 5 years on the market it was time for a refresh. Like any cherished item, the improvements were in a sympathetic way so not to spoil the receipt of the Scout. However, the new Scout (v3) is an all new frame, completely new tube profiles, with improved and updated geometry, revised sizing in both 275 and 290 platforms and a host of other small tweaks. Nukeproof believe this to being the finest vintage of Scout yet.

Nukeproof have revised, every one of the hydroformed 6061 T6 aluminium tubes have been engineered to optimise the ride, adding stiffness and compliance where needed to improve handling and the ride quality.

The geometry is updates, que the Longer, lower and slacker (and steeper). Longer- more sizing’s and bringing the Scout in line with the rest of the range, lower- change to BB height, Slacker- well its slacker. Steeper: The New Scout falls in line with the Saddle offset theory of the rest of the Nukeproof range. Steeper seat angles optimised on each size to ensure the saddle is in the most efficient position for laying down the pedal strokes and ergonomics in the saddle.

The Scout launches as a frame only. All components from “old” Scout can be switched onto the new base. Complete bikes will be available later in the year. The range features 4 complete models both available in 27.5” wheel or 29” wheel options.
