I really like it! The shitty riders (like us) get to spend the best part of
the season waiting for Rock Shox to warranty the garbage product they sold us.
Meanwhile the good riders can ride unencumbered on the secret product that
actually works without us getting in the way! Good thinking Rock Shox!
Looking back on all the worthless junk I bought from you (including a set of
RS 1s in 1990), and all the time I spent waiting for my bike to come back from
the shop. It occurs to me that I may have played a very large role in clearing
the trails for the many great riders who have come out of the lower mainland
in the past 20 years.
I think this might be a good time to mention that every Marzocchi product I
have ever purchased has performed well beyond expectation and required
absolutely no mid season maintenance. The Fox products I own all seem to be
doing well too.
To be clear, over the past 23 years I have spent more money than I care to
admit on Rock Shox and Sram Product that should not have been brought to
market. The company should be bending over backwards to make amends to all of
it's customers by producing high quality reliable components. Instead they
chose to insult us.
To be fair if I'm stupid enough to buy their crap I'm probably too stupid to
know what quality components feel like. All the same it leaves a bitter taste
in my mouth. From this point on I will do my best to avoid any Rock Shox or
Sram product, and just hope that my reverb lasts until October.
PS. Boobar can take his secret super shock and stick it up his ass.
Maybe Sram is rocking the "bad publicity is the best publicity" hollywood
style. How many people are talking about the new vivid right now? 24 comments
on an NSMB news article, that's more than I've seen in a while… Also I've
bounced around on the new vivid a bit and it feels incredible.
While I don't ride mtb anymore, I think the bigger problem is that a bunch of
presumably grown men feel that influenced by marketing. Here is a little
secret… those guys on that list… are better than you. And not by a little bit,
by a lot.
We've come out with this awesome shock!!….oh yeah by the way you cant have it.
Funny shit. Gotta be a piss take. Otherwise send the info to guys on the list
and dont waste ppls time.
Geez Dan, you’re right, I should probably just go sell my MTBs and use the
proceeds to buy some super tight spandex and ride around with my clubbing
buddies on our hot road bikes because these guys can get down the hill faster
than I can. How many people who’ve commented were going to buy this piece on
account of the marketing? People put their money behind a brand for all types
of arbitrary reasons. Manufacturing practices? Do they sponsor local riders?
Does the Product Maganger struggle with the use of irony/sarcasm? Joke or no
joke, did a company find a way to alienate some of it’s user base? Sure smells
like a fail to me.
At 2:11 he is describing the basic principles that every telescoping
suspension fork relies on - stanchion & bushing with a layer of oil
between them - as if SRAM has invented some new form of rocket surgery.
I watched this without sound before a class the first time around and said,
"That was awesome! what uproar?"
I just watched it again with sound and I liked it better the first time. Why
not just put in more riding shots, less Boobar and make everyone stoked on
Rockshox? Stating the general public isn't good enough for the new Vivid
really takes away all the stoke and makes one question the quality of what
Rockshox is offering.
to presume that only "elite/pro" level dh racers will benefit from damping
technology is pretty funny, almost naive. there are an awful lot of fast old
men, boys, and non-racers out there who can dish out the abuse.
That's because someone had the cojones to say we're not all special little
snowflakes, and the majority of us are pretty crap at riding. Which is true.
Instead of the latest and gratest widget, spend money on coaching and lessons
and things that will actually improve your riding. Then, if you ever make it
into that exclusive top 3%, don't buy stuff from people that seem like
arrogant dickbags.
It's a shame it gets lost, cause man I love it when I get to see those guys
ride. The Coastal Crew's bikes are fucking sick. I would love a custom sticker
job like that.
I think the idea of pros only as a beta test make sense, but obviously better
small bump is something we all want. Lame to say that riders are not ready;
maybe RockShox is for pros and the rest of us will spend our money elsewhere.
What a douchebag video? I see no purpose in even posting that for consumption.
Especially since I am one of the 97% of riders who probably sucks according to
Boobar.
LOL. Such BS!! Nice to know im not good enough to ride your shock. Thought you
would like to make up for the epic fail that was the first run on the new
style boxxers out of the new factory. I will be racing on Fox this year for
sure.
Not sure if SRAM employs only douchebag elitists, or that their marketing
department is totally inept.
Either way, they just lost my business. I would have bought a new Vivid Air,
but CCDB for 2013 it is. I guess my aging XO drivetrain will be replaced by
Saint as well.
"Sadly, we aren't ready to release it to the general public, but would like to
open it up to any pro level riders that want to pay their own money to test
our product for us."

As far as I know know none of the Coastal Crew guys hold a UCI pro license. Maybe Curtis had one for a bit to race Pro dual slalom.
Pro only is a marketing fail. Sram is going to get roasted badly for this in social media.
