Date Apr 26, 2013

Bike mountaineering involves a lot of hardship it seems. What’s the highest you’ve been on a bike?

14,000+ feet on the road bike on Mount Evans in Colorado, 12,000′ on the mountain bike.

I like this. I agree that watching average guys do this is much more interesting than watching the people who get paid to do it. It takes more for me to do it than some 20something sponsored athlete.

i could feel the pain, especially at that delightful alpine berg and quaint hotel.

uh, that was unwatchable. bike mag ran a feature 5 years ago with hans rey and some others riding the haute route - focussed on sweet views, ripping descents and drinking beer. no one gives a 4uck how hard you trained or how much you suffered
