Hailey's 2023 Trail Moments

Photos Hailey Elise

I consistently have mixed feelings at the beginning of each year. While it's exciting to see what lies ahead, those blank pages also bring anxiety. What if I don't make the most of them? Generally, the anxiety is short lived as I get back into the swing of things post-holiday season and of course, get back on the trails.

Bikes always have a funny way of grounding. Sometimes through humility and other times, driving a sense of presence. 2023 was full of these moments. Too many to count now that I look back.

The end of fall is always bitter sweet. We were lucky to get one one last trip into the Chilcotins before the snow fell. Seeing the forest fire destruction was gut-wrenching to say the least but the community was warm, welcoming, and looking forward.

November was spent primarily in Chile for a freeride event. Read all about the trip and the event at Roca Bike Park here.

Cold? What cold? A few of us Whistler folk thought hey, no snow, no problem, we will go to Vancouver Island. We still encountered snow plus rain, and 27 other mishaps. Despite that, it was one last adventure to satisfy our souls before the holiday season.

Seeing 2023 all laid out, it was truly full of bikes. I can't wait to see what 2024 brings and all the two-wheeled adventures.

Great pictures.  I predict the "reflections" picture from July (Crankworx?) is going to be a screensaver for a lot of people.

Thank you.

Thank you so much. That image is one of my favourites to date. It was incredible to be up for sunrise with all my best friends, another perk of that particular competition.

Thanks for all the outstanding photos Hailey.  It not only shows us how epic this sport is, but is a reminder at this time of year to look back at our smart phone photos to take in what kind of year we've had.  It can get lost in the day to day goings on, that we've all most likely had some epic times out there on our bikes.  Happy New Year everyone.

Great photos all around. That first Micayla Gatto pic and the October pic with the tree are works of art. Thanks.

Thank you! I appreciate the kind words. We were sitting on a dock in the Chilcotins and looked up to see the one tree illuminated. It was a moment for sure.
