Greg Minnaar: Off the Clock

Downhill’s most decorated rider, Greg Minnaar, a.k.a. “The Goat”, got off to a slow start in the 2022 UCI DH World Cup series. Finishing up the first round, Greg headed back to Morzine in the French Alps—home to the Santa Cruz Syndicate headquarters—to fine-tune his bike, body, and mind for the remainder of the season.

Finding the flow on the DH race bike is key for top-level athletes. In Off The Clock, Greg and his mechanic Lyle Hyslop, work closely to identify and tackle obstacles with the bike to unlock possibilities on track. Together, they fine-tune Greg's bike to achieve a comfortable and confidence-inspiring baseline setup for the following races.

Alongside his commitment to early hours in the gym and working on his mental game, Greg uses one of his favourite training tools—the Santa Cruz Bullit eMTB—to ride for longer and get more DH laps in every ride. Searching for seconds on the clock, Greg proves it’s all about the quality of time spent off the clock.
