Enduro World Series Millau | Day 1 Results

The wet curse continues at the Enduro World Series, leaving riders absolutely caked in mud after the first day of racing in Millau, France. Get the rundown from the EWS below, and stay tuned tomorrow for final results from Round 5.

After five tough stages, it was Cecile Ravanel (Commencal Vallnord Enduro Racing Team) and Alexandre Cure (BH Miranda Racing Team) who reigned supreme at the first day of the Natural Games Millau EWS driven by URGE bp.

Rain once more plagued the series, creating some tough conditions on the steep and technical French terrain. But it proved no match for the home riders who dominated the sharp end of the results sheets. In the men's race Adrien Dailly (Lapierre) lies second and Theo Galy (Devinci Global Racing) is in third. And both will be chasing hard tomorrow to catch Cure - who leads by just five seconds.

In the women's race Isabeau Courdurier (SUNN) won the first stage of the day, but a flat in stage five lost her valuable time and she ended in the day in third. Consistency paid off for Anita Gehrig (Ibis Cycles Enduro Race Team) who finished the day in second. However, given Ravanel's commanding 1:18.02 lead, it's going to be hard for anyone to best the reigning World Champion.

In the Master's Frenchman Karim Amour won all five stages and has a commanding lead heading into day two, whilst in the Master's Women the USA's Mary Mcconneloug is out front. It's French riders again who dominate the U21 categories - with Estelle Charles and Theotim Trabac leading.
