Day 1 at La Thuille
A burly first day of racing with huge climbs to arrive at the top of stages and then long timed stages on extremely rough terrain. In the words of Sam Hill these are ‘real mountain bike tracks.’

With Richie Rude holding onto almost a full minute, it’ll be interesting to see if Sam Hill can respond on day 2. Whistler’s Jesse Melamed is looking good in 6th place after day 1.
After Cecile Ravanel there aren’t many household names in the top ten. Such is the rapidly shifting landscape of EWS.
