Return of the Ripper

Obsession: Bikes Presents, in conjunction with the MEC Bike Fest, The Return of the Ripper!
We started with Twoonie Races. We ran the North Shore Ripper Series.  The Ripper Series was a Huge Hit! We thought: “Let’s run a Bike Festival!” Then we thought: “AAaargggg !!! this is too big,” and we said to MEC “Can you run this festival, We want to run Bike races?”  Now? we are on the Cusp of the Return of the Ripper.

It all begins on Friday afternoon at Inter River Park, with registration opening for the weekend’s events.

-Friday 7:00 pm: The 2-3K XC Prologue and Ryders Eyewear Retro Show and Shine. 
The XC Prologue is a standalone event that can be used to seed riders for the Super D ( ie the best performing riders will run the Super D first ),  followed by the Ryders Eyewear’s Retro Show and Shine at the Interriver race site. Ryders is having their 25th birthday and are set on celebrating in 80’s style with pimped Ritcheys, Brodies, Rockys; Heck, maybe someone will show up with a Proflex!

-Saturday morning at the Crack of 10:00 am the Trek Bike Marathon XC will take place. 
This is similar to last years event with an improved start and at least 5 new pockets of sweet single track. Get-Your-Tech-On as this event will challenge you in Both Directions – Up  & Down.
-Sunday Is the Final Return of the Ripper event – The Specialized Enduro Super D. 
The route has been set and the Riders are setting up to see who can claim to be the best Single track rider on the shore.

We have prizing generously provided by Dakine, Lezyne, Ryders, Specialized, Trek and others. These prizes will be offered largely by draw at the awards shortly after each event at the Bike Fest at  Interriver Park.

The Events: Within The Event
King & Queen of the Shore:  
A package of goodies from Dakine and loads of Braggin’ Rights will be bestowed upon the best male and female rider of the weekend.

The Rules: One Bike, One set of Wheels , One set of Tires.
How will we determine the winners? Points will be allotted out of a scale of 100 for each event. The winner of an event will receive 100 points Second 99, third 98 and so on. The highest number of points accumulated by the rider who complete all 3 events on the same bike, wheels and tires will be crowned King or Queen of the Shore. ( ie if you win each event you will have 300 points)
Harvest Project Super D: 
This is a kick back to the Rippers of before with an added goodwill twist. Teams of 3-or-more will ride the Super D together with their Entry Fees being Donated to the Harvest Project. This is a totally for fun event designed to draw attention to making a small difference for those who are having a hard time getting going. Use this as an opportunity to hound dog with your friends while giving to a good cause. (You are probably out riding on Sunday anyway  – so why not ?)

MEC Bike Fest at Inter river park:
All of this is happening at the same time as The Fest there are all kinds of activities for Kids and parents alike: Kids races, guided rides, Demo Bikes , maintenance clinics and so on .
