AIRprentice Bikes

It’s nice to know that, with such a strong crew coming out for AIRprentice this year, we’re certain to get a deserving rider in the saddles of these bikes.  This year’s bikes are a new high water mark in terms of sheer sexiness and performance.  From the Sam Hill-approved DT EX1750 wheelset to the Boxxer Team fork, WTB Aviator saddle, SRAM XO drivetrain, Maxxis tires and the Demo frame… You see what I’m getting at.  There’s not a weak link anywhere on these machines.  The Demo in particular is pretty much ready to be tossed down a World Cup DH course.

  The just-finished 2010 Specialized Demo 7 AIRprentice Edition.  These builds were completed at Obsession:Bikes And they nailed it of course.

  The Specialized SX we built up should be lightning fast – particular under the chosen one.

  We’ve got tubes in there – don’t you worry.

  I’ve never used a rear changer that comes close to the reliability and durability of the SRAM XO.

  My favourite thing about WTB Pure V saddles is that they are as light as some hard, thin arrow you might find on a road bike – but they are amazingly comfortable and well-padded.

  To save some weight the spindle on Truvativ Holzfeller pedals doesn’t extend the entire width of the pedal. I wasn’t sure about the skinny pins but they are nice and grippy without holding onto your 5Ten shoes too tightly.

  Avid Elixir CR brakes are ridiculously light – XC light – but the provide all the stopping power and modulation you could want in any situation.

  A Rock Shox Vivid coil shock provides the Demo 8’s spring while a Truvativ Boxguide manages the chain retention.

  These are cheating.  DT Swiss EX1750 wheels are ridden by top World Cup pros Sam Hill, Jared Graves and Aaron Gwin – to name just a few.

There we have them!  One rider will hoist these bikes, one at a time preferably, on Sunday afternoon and then take them home.  Not a bad weekend’s work.  Huge props and thanks to John, Lou and of course James Wilson at Obsession:Bikes for the sick build work!  The boys know their stuff!
