World Record Autobahn Speeds on a DH Rig

After nearly two years of chasing his own record, speed demon Max Stöckl shattered the world record for top speed on a production bicycle. Clocked at 167.6 km/h with an off-the-shelf Mondraker Summum in the Atacama desert, Stöckl sported a specially crafted helmet and suit designed to slice through the Chilean air as efficiently as possible.

“The whole project is an adventure,” Stöckl said. “This is the top bit of it but also travelling here with all the stuff and making our way through the middle of the desert.”

Good thing he was riding in an unrestricted speed zone, or he’d have to sell the bike to cover the ticket.
