Tom Ritchey visits the Bicycle Academy

When I first came across this video, I thought: a) that’s cool, Tom Ritchey popped in on those guys for a little dueling framebuilding clinic; but b) I also knew the Bicycle Academy sounded familiar, but couldn’t put my finger on it. Then I remembered: they’re the chaps behind the amazing Hack Bike Derby. If you’re curious about WTF that is, check out the video here. What a great format, and man does it look fun. The first in the upcoming series of ‘Old Skool x New School’ events created by The Bicycle Academy. A collaboration between the legends of the framebuilding world and the new wave of framebuilders creating the future of bicycle making.

Tom Ritchey, an icon of the sport and a framebuilding legend, visited The Bicycle Academy in September 2016 to spend some time hanging out, teaching students and to build a bike with the young framebuilders that run the school in Somerset, England.
