Supreme DH Testing in California
Commençal have been hard at work developing a new Supreme DH, and while we’ve seen a few sneaky shots here and there, this video is the first good look we’ve seen at the new layout. Testing looks like it’s a blast as well.
Definitely an interesting suspension layout…

It has an Idler pulley… Wonder if they are trying out a system somewhat like the new Canfield Bros DH rig. Putting a little rearward axle path action into the link design.

Because the high pivot location.
My understanding is that on a single pivot bike, like the new Supreme DH V4, a high pivot location results in a better arc for the rear wheel to react to the ground. The trade off is that it's very susceptible to chain tension issues. I think under tension, the swingarm is harder to compress, someone correct me if I'm wrong.
The idler pulley on the swingarm removes/reduces the effect of chain tension from the suspension function.

Because it uses such a pivot. If you pause the video, you can see the bike is a single pivot with high pivot placement. The upper pulley reduces weird chain feedback issues.

Yeah I saw it was single pivot but it never dawned on me that the pulley was there because of the high pivot point placement. Id be curious to see what kind of difference it has made to the suspension characteristics switching from what they were on to this new design
