Anti-mountain biking activists will be at these events in force.
Riders need to come out and show support and to ask the candidates questions
about mountain biking and the future of the sport in the District
of North Vancouver.
CAMPAIGN 4 TRAILS
November 19 –- the most important trail day for three years!
Municipal Elections are upon us. Don't let the results shock you! Given that voter turn out is on average about 25% and most of those voting are people with an axe to grind, anything can happen. So you have two choices:
• Elect those that will share in and represent your value of recreating on trails.
or
• Be complacent and let the NIMBYs vote in the politicians and spend then next 3 years going to council meetings and workshops to save the trails.
The last few weeks people have been asking us who are candidates that are pro-trails. So we've put the candidates to the question, attended public meetings and questioned the insiders to determine who shares an appreciation for the North Shore's mountain culture and has a track record of supporting recreational trail access. Here's who made the cut!
District of West Vancouver
Pam GOLDSMITH-JONES –- Mayor
City of North Vancouver
Darrel MUSSATTO - Mayor
What you need to Vote:
Be 18 years or older. Have two pieces of ID, one that shows your address
and one with a signature. You also must have lived in the respective municipality
for the last 30 days.
When to vote:
8 a.m. to 8 p.m., November 19 - General Election day –- numerous locations.
A Note About Voting Strategies:
There are six councillors being elected and you will have six votes. This being said, you may not wish to
use all six votes.
Council will be formed from the candidates with top six number of votes.
If you vote for someone you don't have strong feelings for, you may contribute to the defeat of someone you do feel strongly for. Only vote for those you want to see elected.
