WHISTLER’S
FAMED FREERIDE MOUNTAIN BIKE FESTIVAL BRINGS THE STOKE STATESIDE WITH CRANKWORX
COLORADO JULY 5-7, 2007 |
Whistler, BC & Winter Park, CO March 31, 2007 – Whistler Resort will
unleash their legendary formula for throwing the world’s best freeride mountain
bike festival south of the Canadian border when they partner with Winter Park
Resort to produce Crankworx Colorado in Winter Park, Colorado July 5-7, 2007.
The event line-up will include a Cross-Country race, a downhill event modeled
after the notorious Air Downhill, a Super D, Big Air and a Slopestyle with the
course designed by John Cowan. Cowan is one of the most recognizable riders in
dirt jumping and builder of the Whistler Blackcomb Mountain Bike Park’s
Kona Jump Jam, and the world-renowned Hell Track I in San Diego, CA and Hell Track
II in Kamloops, BC.
“Kokanee Crankworx in Whistler, BC has established itself as the most exciting
freeride mountain bike events in the world,” says Bob Holme, Winter Park
Resort’s Bike Park and Youth Marketing Manager. “Crankworx Colorado
is going to produce mind blowing feats of athlectism and an unbelievable spectacle
for spectators, whether young, young at heart, hardcore enthusiast or checking
out the freeride mountain bike scene for the first time.”
Known for its close proximity to Denver, Winter Park Resort’s ease of access
still manages to remain a world away from the every day hustle and bustle. Home
to over 50 miles of lift-accessible mountain bike trails, Colorado’s longest
Alpine Slide, and an abundance of music and food festivals, Winter Park Resort
offers the perfect summer escape.
“Every year Whistler’s Kokanee Crankworx outdoes itself,” says
Rob McSkimming, VP of Business Development at Whistler Blackcomb. “We are
committed to providing the ultimate forum for the evolution of freeride mountain
biking and we are stoked to work with Winter Park’s crew to bring Crankworx
to Colorado. The freeride mountain bike terrain at Winter Park is gaining more
and more recognition in the mountain bike community and Crankworx Colorado will
introduce their epic single-track to even more riders.”
Crankworx is presented in partnership by Tourism Whistler, Whistler Blackcomb
and the Resort Municipality of Whistler. Crankworx Colorado is presented in partnership
with the Winter Park/Fraser Valley Chamber of Commerce and the US Forest Service.
