Well the first Crankworx Colorado is in the books and it was a complete success thanks to Bob Holme and the crew at Winter Park, Colorado. This first year event saw mix of pro and amateur riders duel it out at 9,000 ft in the Rockies to decide who would be the King of the Mountain. In the end it was a healthy Jamie Goldman who would ride away with the that title. His sick riding style won him a first place in the Big air Contest with an x-up one-foot backflip and he stuck second in the Slopestyle. Not a bad weekend for Goldman.

In the end though it was Cam McCaul who would tale first place at this new Crankworx event. This was his first time winning a Crankworx Slopestyle and he was stoked, riding hard and having fun all weekend long. John Cowan did a fantastic job with this new course and the riders were challenged by all the features. Canadians Alex Prochazka, Justin Wyper and Mitchell Chubey were the crazy canuck group who held their own against the pro's. All the riders who rode the course sent it big from the rock roll-in 20x25ft drop over the two sets of doubles to the final step down. Thanks guys you made 4,000 people happier than shit !

Winter Park Colorado appeared peaceful before a group of Slopestyle bikers arrived for the newest Crankworx event.

Kyle Strait nails the first step-up, this jump gave everyone trouble all weekend.

Young Andrew Taylor rode hard all weekend and finished just out of the money in 4th place. He gave the pro's reason to look over their shoulders.

Alex Prochazka throws a X-up backflip on his second borrowed bike for the big air contest

Mitchell Chubey from Canada lays one out for the crowd. Mitch is now riding a Specialized SX Trail for nsmb.com after winning AIRprentice.

Course designer John Cowan was no slouch either , trying this X-up barrel roll in the big air contest. Nice try Johnny!

Local guy Logan Binggeli 3's the small set. Moves like this got him 10th in the slopestyle final.

With huge moves like this cliffhanger Mitchell Chubey made us proud to be Canucks. He finished 7th in the Slopestyle.

Local boy Justin Wyper with a face only a mother could love. Yes he also took home the bacon with a 3rd in the Big Air with a sick McMetz and a 12th place in the final.

Cam Zink was stoked to ride until a simple fall tweaked his knee. He loaned his bike to Alex Pro for the final. Thanks Cam!

This is Cam, all weekend he had his groove on. Man this guy just loves to ride his bike. Happy at his first big slopestyle win you might say?

Jamie Goldman's Superman Seat grab over the big double. This style would win him the Big Air contest and land him 2nd in Slopestyle.
The king of the mountain @ crankworx, colorado.

Goldman shows his style over the small set with a huge No-Foot Can.

W.Cam McCaul Tailwhips the second Step-up  Moves like this in his second run gave him the win.

Who says Colorado Girls don't like Mountain Biking?

The three amigos - 2nd Paul Basagoitia ,1st Cam McCaul, 3rd Jamie Goldman. Winners from the first ever Crankworx Colorado.

For this year at least it seemed like Crankworx CO was a bit of a warm up for the big show in Whistler.  Not bad at all for the first year.  Next year maybe it will hit the next level.
