Ridden Ladies Only Lately?

One TAP (Trail Adoption Plan) project wasn’t enough. In addition to our continuing maintenance on Expresso, NSMB has committed to put our efforts into Ladies Only for 2015, with help from our friends at Toyota BC.

Most of Digger’s structures are in good shape because they were built so well in the first place. But there is some wear and tear showing. We will be replacing any broken slats and woodwork during our six traildays.

We are meeting this Sunday, June 7th, at Upper Lynn Elementary School (1540 Coleman) at 9:00 am.

Morning fuel will be provided courtesy of Bean Around the World Coffees.

Please bring your own coffee mug and/or water bottle and water – we’re not keen on bottled water or plastic bottles.

As always after the work is done we’ll have some liquid treats from our good friends at Shaftebury Brewing Company.

The forecast is for sun and nice temps – perfect building weather and we’ll finish in time to grab bikes and ride after for anyone that wants to.

Experience not required.

Bring: your own water bottle (full) and coffee mug (empty). Good footwear and work gloves if you have ’em.

There will also be prizing courtesy of Toyota BC and some of our other partners.

We will be starting our work at Bart’s Bridge directly across from the fourth switchback. The DNV has given us 5 parking permits so we can drive people up or you can pedal/hike and join us on the trail.

This move has been an ankle bone biter for years. The log is rotting and in need of replacement.

Many sections have taken a beating while Digger has been spread around Seymour and Fromme. This section will be brought back up to grade using Digger’s famous cribbing technique. Unfortunately the mineral soil need to fill the crib is hard to find so Digger will be sending the bucket patrol on gold scouting missions.

Think we should pave this? (just kidding. No need for death threats!) The approach log will be fixed though. Digger has a plan that will restore the log to its original state. Most importantly we need to find the Blue Heron that somebody jacked from the pond…or get a pair because the other one was looking lonely.

We don’t need two lines here. We don’t need to sanitize it either. Don’t worry though – Digger will be joining us to preserve the character of the trail. The line on the right will be closed to avoid the potential for falling down the canyon only a few metres from the lower right of the photo.

Hopefully we’ll see some of you this Sunday restoring a North Shore classic!

Check out the event on FB here.

Who’s coming to have some fun and earn some trail karma?

Was happy to be a little late and help with the finishing touches -- can't wait for the rest of the work to be finished up. Thanks for the power-up pizza on the way back up!
