Rampage Final Results

Here are the results. This year’s Rampage venue delivered. There was some riding brilliance and two runs were completed, but it feels like this side of the mountain may have more to offer when the top riders all click at the same time. Today it didn’t feel like any of the top three rode beyond themselves top to bottom, despite the ridiculousness of their runs. There were some moves completed that blew the lid off, like Zink’s cliff spins, Rheeder’s no-hander flip and Herbertson’s canyon flip, but with more riders tricking huge moves it was tougher to stand apart.

This isn’t the time to talk about judging, the announcers or who got robbed. At least not by me (feel free to let ‘er rip yourselves below).  For now let’s be stoked for Andreu and everyone who was even invited to Rampage.

Am I the only one who though Kyle Straights second run was a winner
He no-handed the same drop as AL and the entry line he and Zinc took at the top of the mountain was ridiculous

I had Kyle in second as a minimum after that run

I also thing AL's score was too high
It was a great run, no doubt, but not 5 full points better than Zink's or Kyle's

The judges gave it to Andreu as a
Lifetime achievement award

Judging on the computer screen versus being at the actual venue is totally different. BS and CZ were not nearly as stoked at the bottom as AL. Best run won.

Actually Jerry it's way easier to get an accurate impression of a run from the screen imho. It's very difficult, even for the judges, to get a good luck at an entire run from start to finish. Rheeder's run was scored low for sure imho and there are always irregularities. Szymon suffered from not being well known because his run was solid. It seemed Zink should have been penalized more for his ride along the fire road. In the past the judges haven't been overly impressed by huge drops without any trick but that was an element Andreu got rewarded for.

The two commentators were pretty horrible. Plenty of smh and facepalm moments.

Being able to watch it live on RedBullTV was awesome. Bummer about Aggy. Zink leaving Semenuk's high five hanging on the podium was pretty funny. The announcers who called mountain bikes 'steel horses' and 'motorcycles without engines' should be fired. Overall the coverage was better than ever!

Godziek had a fantastic run. I had it neck and neck with the top guys. His score was a strange outlier.

It also seemed that Rheeder's first run was the best of the day. And if you listen to the announcers as the event was happening, they clearly agreed. But props to all, and I hope Van Steenbergen is OK - that was bordering on crazy!

Totally agree about Rheeder and his first run - the judges seem to have walked themselves into a corner there. Godziek looked good but I'd have to watch again to form an opinion. Otherwise I was more or less on board with the results.

"Now he's going to be looking to the second run to move up"

Spoken casually as Lacondeguy finished.

There appeared to be nothing in that first run to separate him from the field. How did they explain the huge score?

Andreu won because his run was smooth flowy and fast, The first drop he did was the gnarliest drop of the day. judging from all the other runs this and the 76 foot drop is what gave him and Aggi's qualifying run above 90. His Rzr hip jump flip was perfectly executed aswell. However, in saying this, The other runs were spectacular and i think he should of won by a significantly smaller margin.

I can live with the judging ranking I guess. But as far as points I can't see how Lacondeguy's run was worth so much more. I also felt Herbertson's run should have been scored higher.

Agree with you as well on both counts. Looking forward to seeing more from Herbertson in future.
