New 2014 RaceFace Hard Goods

Cranks, Rings, Pedals, Bars, and Stems

RaceFace’s Turbine and Atlas groups have seen the spotlight for the past few years, but it’s time Next got its turn. For 2014 we’re seeing the formerly XC-oriented family move more towards the burly end of the spectrum, while maintaining its competitive light weight.

The highlight piece is a new carbon crankset that weighs in at a ghastly sub-500 grams with a 28T direct mount ring and BB92 bottom bracket – and a still-light 640 grams with a 104/64 double and PF30 BB.

Next also sees a widening in the handlebar department at 760mm, going to the 35mm clamp diameter at a weight of 180 grams. Both these and the cranks hit RaceFace’s strength targets for the burlier product families – a good sign indeed.

SixC is going to 35mm clamp and 800mm width at 210 grams and will see three different rise options: 10mm, 20mm, and 35mm.

The Atlas bars see a graphics refresh and a brightening in the colour department as well as the 35mm clamp and 800mm width.

The Aeffect is the more affordable of the two pedal offerings and uses a bearing/bushing combo, weighing in at 375 grams a pair.

The Atlas pedal is the premium offering with four cartridge bearings and a double concave platform, weighing in at 355 grams a pair.

    no kidding eh? The old adage that ‘if it doesn’t kill you it just makes you stronger’ really applies here. Can’t wait to get my grubby hands on some of this stuff

    If those Next SL cranks don’t give a guy middle of the day wood..he’s dead. Damn. Can’t wait to get the ones I ordered a few weeks ago. No 170′s yet but the other length is in. Looking at those Atlas pedals, it looks like the hole in the platform opposite the spindle end is threaded. Is there a purpose for that like pressing off the cage from the spindle?

      Would imagine just cause its the same diameter as what the end cap threads into. Gets threaded when that gets threaded.

    Do we think the Next SL cranks are suitable for a 210lb rider on a long travel 29er? This class of componentry is so tough now maybe I could run these?
