Logan Peat’s New Santa Cruz Slope Bike
Logan Peat’s ship is in. A solid 5th at Crankworx Rotorua thanks to a great first run continued his trend of recent improvement. His good buddy Brett Rheeder clinched Rotorua – and then asked Logan to join him on his victory lap. But he was still missing a bike – or at least, sponsor Santa Cruz was missing one from their lineup if he wanted to run full suspension.
They put Nick Anderson on the case and he worked with Logan to engineer the bike he wanted. It’s based loosely on a Jackal, but with 4 inches of travel. We do not have the numbers (yet). It’s not going to be for sale (they say). But it is mighty cool that Santa Cruz put their head of engineering on the case, and then made the bike entirely at their HQ in Santa Cruz. Linkage parts and hardware were machined, tubes were welded…it is so fresh that it wasn’t entirely built up yet when we got a look at it.
Definitely a Santa Cruz.
One-off linkage hardware. Homemade.
Paint meets clearcoat. Logan, your new bike is ready.
Lots of work goes into the production of a one-off prototype like this.
Good finishing bits are to be expected.
Logan’s new bike will be at action at Sea Otter.

It would be great if you folks would cover more Dirt Jump news.
I can't help but think if the major websites covered more DJ news it would spur manufacturers to drive technology advancement in the field. -probably in the same way websites talking so much about enduro got manufacturers to build such great new bikes.

The 650b+ and 29+ seems to be receiving manufacturers attention at the moment and I hadn't really seen it covered on any websites before that.

I wonder why they never did anything like this for Jamie Goldman a few years ago. Obviously I know nothing about the inner workings of SC, but his riding needed this sort of bike after they culled the blur 4x and he was on their premier team as opposed to being a free agent type guy.

This whole thing was started after Rotorua? ~2 weeks to decide they needed a bike for Logan, design it, weld it, paint it, and build it, and post it here?

They would have been designing it before, logan probably used the trek because they couldnt get him this in time for him to get used to it before the event.
