The Flow Zone’s newest product is a quick release upgrade designed specifically for all 2015 FOX 36 models. The main design goal in developing the Q36R Quick Release System was to ease wheel removal while retaining full axle clamp strength. Using the FOX Factory axles, Q36R is simple to use and takes under fifteen minutes to install. Q36R is a tool-free system that allows for quick front wheel removal, painless flat fixes, easy wheel swaps and convenient bike transport.

After all the hoopla about the new 36 , I have to laugh seeing this , I thought the old 36's with the QR's was brilliant. Two pinch bolts on the new system =stupid. So how tight do you do them? I wont tighten bolts without a Torque wrench , who wants to carry one around…

I'm genuinely curious how many front flats there were in the entire EWS last year?

Ignoring cyclocross and XC racing (where super light single-ply tires reign), I can't remember the last time I saw someone with a front flat tire, never mind had one myself. Reinforced sidewalls and tubeless systems…

What percentage of riders still have a car rack that requires removal of the front wheel? 1%, 2%?

Much ado about nothing really.

if one is running tubeless does one have to remove the wheel to fix a flat ?? i,m still running tubes so if the wheel does not need to be removed to fix this is a waste of money and what i would call a band aide fix for a poor design

Guess that depends on the flat… if you need to put a tube in because of sidewall damage that won't seal then you would have to remove the wheel.

I still think the pertinent question is how often do you see front flats with so called "1.5 ply" casings?

I never had a front flat when I used 1 ply casings…. so yeah, its a non-event for the most part… I don't have a QR on my Formula fork and its never crossed my mind that I need one.

I had one not too long ago. missed the landing on a drop I was a bit nose heavy on. Landed it but got a flat in the front. Happens.

I front flatted on Crankworx EWS Stage 3 last year….luckily it was a rock shox product and I didn't need to fiddle around with ridiculous extra QR's.

But it sucks if you have to do it every time you put your bike on/in your car! This kit is cheaper than a new rack setup.

Tom there could hardly be a way i suspect, the top part of the clamp has the bolt holes, the surface isn't really mod-friendly, while i guess FOX machines the rear to accept a threaded (interchangeable) plate. Which would be mod friendly. And you can't reverse the levers, since you have the damping controls there…

They did more or less what they could. They could only point them directly downwards if they switched the closing direction. And then someone else would surely moan.

Is that not the same or similar lever placement that the old 36 had?

Nope, the old 36 had it on the front/top, this has it on the bottom/back. The old 36 quick release actually had a (single) bolt right inside the QR lever. And the bottom part of the clamp had i think a hole parallel to the axle, where you insert a steel piece with the threads, not a plate, like this one does.
