Over two days of gruelling racing in Valberg, King of the Flats Sam Hill stormed to victory ahead of Nicolas Vouilloz, claiming his first Enduro World Series victory of the year. Richie Rude wound up finishing 7th overall, and while a disappointing result this race, he still has everything to play for in Round 8.

Following the race in Valberg, Hill announced that he will be spending all of next season focused on the EWS circuit, in lieu of racing DH. This should prove to make an already talented field at the EWS even deeper, and help sharpen the competition to a razor’s edge. He also said: “It feels awesome. I tried not to think about my lead all day and just attack each stage as it came. Nico kept me honest all day, I knew I had a little lead and so I just tried to get down without any mistakes. It’s been a massive goal of mine to win one of these races, so to win one already is awesome.”

On the women’s side, Cecile Ravanel continued her domination of the circuit, clinching the overall title with another big win in Valberg. She said: “I’m really happy to win and to race this type of event. This course was good because it used all the formats; pedal liaisons, chair lifts and the stages were all so different – some long, some short and that’s what I like.”

Expect to see racers Isabeau Courdurier and Anita Gehrig charging hard to lock down silver in the final round.
