Basically we got started because Cam and I (Michael) are passionate about extreme
sports. We decided that we wanted to put together a website on snowboarding
but by the time we got around to doing anything about it, it was March/April
2000. Cam suggested we put together a Mountain Bike site for summer and get
to the snowboard site later on for winter. We figured if we spent a couple of
grand ($2000) a year on it that would be OK just as long as we are having fun.
We also figured out that we probably couldn't do this with just the 2 of us,
so we brought in Will and launched nsmb.com in the first couple of weeks of
June 2000.
The first week we launched we got over 2000 hits to the site, so we thought
we had better make a go of this thing. Since then, we have learnt tons and had
a bunch of fun, and we are still committed to having fun, expressing our passion
for the sport and providing a great site on North Shore, Extreme and Freeride
Mountain Biking.
PS: the snowboard site never happened.
Here is the official story.
