Dakine Photo Challenge 2012

It’s a sad day when the trails are put to rest and all the bike park signs taken down. It was a fantastic summer in the bike park and the photos entered in this summer’s Dakine Photo Challenge definitely prove it.

This unique competition connects bikers and photographers to capture that epic bike shot and vie for the most impressive photo of the season from Silver Star Bike Park. Once again this year we had an amazing response from photographers and got a ton of great entries.

We’d like to thank everyone who submitted photos for this contest throughout the season and also all those that voted online for their favourites. It was great to see so many people voting and helping shape the process. With much deliberation the guest judges, photographers and Dakine marketing weighed up the votes cast online and then added their thoughts and comments and narrowed down the field to their favorites.

In the end the top three photos were awarded like this: in Third place for the photo Flowing, is Nadine Beland. This photo was chosen because it really captured the speed and fluidity of mountain biking at Silver Star. The colour composition of this photo is amazing as is the feeling of action presented in it. From Dakine Nadine receives a Dakine Rail jersey and Dakine Drafter Pack.

In second place Renzo Madder snapped the photo Which Way? An incredible action shot from the Silver Style Jump Jam this summer. This photo was perfectly timed to nail Sam Dueck when he was totally extended in the super flip. Great timing and a great shot coupled with a great view of Sam in the air landed Renzo on the podium for the 2012 Dakine Photo Challenge. Renzo wins a Dakine Cascade Jersey, Dakine shirt and hat and a Camera Block Bag.

First place in this year’s Dakine Photo Challenge is awarded to Charity Barkwell and her photo Stew Snow 2. Charity’s photo of the BFW wall ride is one of the best we have ever seen. It really encapsulates the speed and fluid fun that the BFW contains. It’s difficult to shoot in the trees near the wall ride but Charity nails this shot by getting close into the wall ride and allowing the rider to ride the wall just above her head. Charity is the lucky new owner of a Dakine Rail jersey, Dakine shirt and hat and the top prize of a Reload Camera Pack thanks to the generosity and ingenuity of DAKINE.
