Deep Summer Results!

Deep Summer must be a nerve crusher. Established pros like Scott Marketwitz and Ian Hylands tossed their hats in against young upstarts with nothing to lose. For a shooter like Mike Zinger, just getting into the comp was a victory. Jonathan Hayward is an established press photographer who has never (apparently) shot mountain biking. Max stress.

In the end Reuben Krabbe, another young shooter, took the crown. As usual there was a lot of moaning but I didn’t hear anyone say they thought the first choice was a bad one. Mike Zinger’s show was very well-received though and many were surprised to see him off the podium. Jonathan Hayward’s show was much admired as well, despite his lack of experience.

In the end there could be only three and after Reuben it was Scott Markewitz in second and Justa Jeskova in third. This has to be about the toughest event in mountain biking to judge. The potential for perceived bias is huge with all of the associations and friendships that exist.

But that’s all done for the year. Enjoy the winning slideshow.
